Policies for September 29, 2021 – December 31, 2021

The health and safety of our audience, artists, staff, and community are of utmost importance as we return to live, in-person performances. We hope these protocols, developed in consultation with public health guidance and Chicago’s performing arts sector, offer additional layers of protection and reduce the risk of COVID-19.

We anticipate maintaining these protocols through December 31, 2021 or until such time prevailing medical guidance allows for a relaxation of certain policies. All visitors, regardless of vaccination status, must properly wear a mask.


All visitors must be fully vaccinated with an FDA-authorized vaccine. “Fully vaccinated” means the performance date must be at least 14 days after receiving the second dose of a two-dose vaccine or single-dose vaccine. Proof of vaccination can easily be provided by showing your physical vaccination card, legible photocopy, or photo of your card and government-issued photo ID. Guests younger than 18 may provide school ID.

Exceptions will be made for guests who need reasonable accommodations due to a medical exceptions or a sincerely-held religious belief. In those cases, guests must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours of the performance start time or negative COVID-19 antigen test taken within 6 hours of the start time.

Exceptions will also be made for children under 12 who are accompanied by an adult that meets the above vaccination requirements.


E-tickets will be made available for a touchless Will Call experience.


They are no fees for same-price ticket exchanges. An upgrade charge may be added for a more experience performance.


E-tickets and digital programs will be made available for a touchless experience.


Sanitation stations will be located throughout the lobby of the venues.


HVAC filters have been upgraded with fresh air flow throughout the building.

If for any reason you are unable to attend your scheduled performance, Blues guarantees to get you into a future performance or exchange your tickets for an upcoming production.


By attending a performance or event by American Blues Theater, you acknowledge there is a risk of exposure to COVID-19 in any public place where people are present and voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure.

If you are not feeling well and exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19, or have been exposed to COVID-19 in the past 10 days, you should not attend a performance or event at American Blues Theater. Please contact BoxOffice@AmericanBluesTheater.com to reschedule or arrange a refund.
